The Plitvice National Park are among the most beautiful natural phenomena in Croatia. A fascinating landscape of forests, lakes and waterfalls. Since 1979, the National Park is listedby the UNESCO of World Heritage. In the 60´s the area was served as a location for some Winnetou-Movies, as for example "Treasure of Silver Lake". The landscape of lakes, you can walk along narrow paths and wooden bridges, or explore with a boat. There are boat trips and guided walks offered to a total of 16 lakes, which at different height levels, and by waterfalls are connected to explore. In the dense forests live many animal species, including in Europe now rare wild animals such as bears, wolves and lynxes. The lakes area is also home to some 120 bird species. A must for nature lovers!
Slunj is located about 30 kilometers north, in the direction of Karlovac / Zagreb. Worth is the river Slunjcica. Through its many branches and waterfalls it´s called the "small Plitvice." In addition, you have to see the 22 water mills, which then served as a grain mills.
